National News: The Punjab Government has started a major step for social security and women’s progress. Led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, a budget of Rs 1,170 crore has been set aside for widows and destitute women for the financial year 2025–26. This decision aims to give financial strength to women and help them live with respect and independence.
Dr. Baljit Kaur, the Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, shared that by August 2025, Rs 593.14 crore had already been sent directly to the accounts of beneficiaries, helping around 6.66 lakh women. This amount is not just financial support but also a source of new confidence for women who face tough situations in their lives.
According to Dr. Baljit Kaur, the Mann Government’s goal is not only to give money but to make women strong and self-sufficient. With this help, women are now supporting their families and ensuring a better future for their children. The plan is creating a sense of security and hope among women across Punjab.
The main strength of this scheme is its transparency. The direct transfer of funds to bank accounts has ended the interference of middlemen, increasing people’s trust in the government. Women in Punjab are now becoming independent and serving as examples of social progress. Dr. Baljit Kaur added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab is moving fast towards becoming a safe, empowered, and inclusive state. The Rs 1,170 crore provision clearly shows the government’s commitment to raise the dignity and strength of women to a higher level.
